Resources to Help You Read and Know the Bible
Do you want to read the Bible, but find it a struggle? Do you long to hear from God, but when you actually journey into God’s word you find yourself feeling confused or uncertain about its application or relevance? Don’t worry, you’re not alone and your experience is not uncommon.
Though all Christians would recognise the value and importance of God’s word, if we’re honest we’d admit that there are times we don’t give it the place or prominence in our lives that it deserves. Sometimes life feels too busy, sometimes the Bible just doesn’t make sense to us, sometimes we think we already know the gist and we get bored. Whatever the reason, the start of a new year is a great time to refocus on the word of God.
To help all of us do this in 2020 and beyond, I’ve compiled a list of resources below to help us read, understand, apply, and cherish the Bible. The Bible is far more than just a book, a historical record, or a religious relic, it is the living word of the living God: “…more precious than gold, than much pure gold; …sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb.” (Psalm 19:10). It is worthy of our focused attention because Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Saviour of the world, and the point and culmination of the biblical story (Luke 24:27; John 5:39-40) is worthy of our worship and devotion.
With you on the journey,
Adam
