God Unchanging

The world as we know it seems to be changing so quickly. The constant announcements and directives from our leaders and medical experts can leave us feeling very unsettled, and unsure of the future. But let’s remember the unchanging, all-powerful, sovereign God we serve.

We are told in Isaiah 40:8 that “the grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” Hebrew 13:8 declares “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” When we remember and internalise these truths about God we will find peace, strength, and hope to face each day.

I’ve recently printed off the verses below and stuck them around our house as reminders of what is true and good and praiseworthy. Maybe you’d like to do the same. Maybe you’d like to commit them to heart so that throughout your day you can be remembering God’s words to you and claiming His promises as your own.

“The Lord is my portion” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3:24-26

“It is God who arms we with strength and keeps my way secure.” Psalm 18:32

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him.” Psalm 62:5

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Isaiah 40:28

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2

“Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
