What’s Happening at Youth?

BPCC Youth is back in full swing for Term 3, and we’ve had a great (COVID-Safe) start to the term! While we appreciate the resources that enabled us to meet online, it is so great to be back in-person, having lots of fun and many powerful discussions with our young people as we seek to equip them up to be life-long disciples of Jesus.

We are meeting back in person on Friday nights, from 7-9pm. Our Friday night program is open to anyone in high school (Yr. 7-12), and while each night is different, each Friday there is plenty of fun, space to hangout, opportunities to ask questions, and a biblical message which anyone can engage with. If you are in high school, or you know someone who is, we would love to have them along! No RSVP required, and there is an optional $2 donation at the door.

Inspire Growth Group is also running again on Wednesday nights. This is a group open to any high school students (Yr. 7-12) who want to dig deeper into faith and following Jesus. At Inspire we look at the sermon from the previous Sunday, and think about how it applies to our lives as young people today. We also have a break for some supper, and a short, yet highly competitive, Mario Kart or Super Smash Bros. tournament.

We hosted the first in-person State ‘Assembly’ here at BPCC a few weeks ago on the 26th July. The Assemblies are a Sunday afternoon event where we gather with other youth groups from our sister churches in the greater Brisbane region for an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship—it is like Youth, but on a Sunday afternoon. It was a great time, and we really enjoyed catching up with all our friends from around the state. We will be heading down to Redlands for the next Assembly on Sunday the 23rd August.

Last weekend a group of our leaders and Year 10-12 students went up to Triple C at Cedar Creek for our annual Seniors Retreat. It was a relaxed, fun weekend spent chilling around the fire, watching Hayden & co. freeze in the creek, an impromptu milkshake trip to Samford, and some creative problem-solving to heat up Milo on a bonfire. We had a lot of fun, and are now looking forward to BECOME Youth Camp at the end of term.

BECOME Youth Camp is open to anyone in Year 7-12, and we would love to have all of our teenagers along. We’ll be heading up to the Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre from the 18th to 20th of September (the first weekend of school holidays). Youth Camps are a highlight of every year at BPCC Youth, and we are looking forward to another great camp this year. We’ll be joined by our sister youth groups from around the state for a weekend of competitive group activities, chilled games, great food, and powerful messages around the theme of BECOME: How God Breaks, Shapes, and Makes His People. The cost for camp is $125/pp, but if cost is an issue, please speak to me (Nathanael) and we may be able to offer a sponsorship to reduce the cost.

If you have any questions about Youth Camp, Friday nights, Inspire, or anything else, please have a chat to Nathanael or Hayden, or email us at youth@bpcc.com.au.

Have a blessed week!
