Have you ever watched ants work together? As much as they’re a pest when they infest my pantry, I find it incredible the way they work together! I read this week that an ant colony is like a factory. Nestmates work together to convert resources (food) into products, other ants take care of the queen and her brood, while worker ants go outside to gather food and defend the nest against enemies. God truly is an amazing Creator!
I don’t write this as a biology lesson, rather a wonderful illustration and example for us. Just as God has created ants to work together, just like they need each other for the colony to thrive, we too need each other for the church to thrive!
1 Corinthians 12 talks about the body of Christ (the church) which is one body with many members: ‘For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ’ (v.1).
Whether you are setting up chairs, playing the guitar, directing traffic, pouring coffee, cleaning bathrooms; you are a part of the Body! God has created us to work together, we need each other for the church to thrive.
If you are part of BPCC but aren’t yet serving, today you have the wonderful opportunity to do so. Or perhaps you are already serving but you have the capacity and ability to do more?
There are many different places we can serve one another at church: Children’s Ministry, Creative Team, Hospitality, Technology, Youth Ministry, Welcoming, just to mention a few. If you are a part of BPCC and would like to learn more about serving, please fill in the form on the back of this blog and let us know.
For those serving at BPCC, may God bless you! We can be thankful that every Sunday we can come to church knowing our children are going to be loved and taught about God by their amazing teachers. We can be thankful for those directing traffic so we can cross the road safely. We can be thankful for those who pour coffee and set up tables where we can sit and chat after the service. We can be thankful for the tidy auditorium and bathrooms that have been lovingly cleaned by volunteers. These examples are just a taste of the many ways we serve one another at BPCC… What a blessing it is to be a part of the body of Christ!
In Christ,
Emma
