Earlier this year we launched The Park Specialty Coffee. Our vision for this venture was to connect with unchurched people in Genesis and in our local area. The coffee shop is a bridge between us and the other communities around us so that we can continue building relationships, sharing the good news of Jesus, and making disciples. The Park is already beginning to fulfil this vision. We have had families come and ask for service times, some have initiated conversations about Christianity, and still another lady from the public drove into our campus and bought a coffee because she was ‘drawn’ to us. I have spent time doing evangelistic training with the staff and we are also handing out invitations with details of church events to customers. We pray that God uses our efforts to draw more people to himself.

But not only has The Park been helping us connect with outsiders, it has also proven to be a wonderful asset for our own community. A lot of our attendees enjoy it and stay back after services to spend time together. I’ve noticed several young adults coming and spending time at the coffee shop during the week, and it’s also a blessing for newcomers when they come along to a ‘Connect Coffee’ after a Sunday service.

The main reason for this letter is to ask you to consider donating to the second stage of The Park’s development. Church Council believes that this second stage is necessary but cannot responsibly commit funds to it at this time (we have had several unexpected capital expenses this year). Thus, Church Council have encouraged me to approach members individually and ask them to consider donating to this venture (over and above their normal giving). Would you please prayerfully consider this?

We have identified the most essential need for The Park at this time is a shelter/roof. The Park is particularly sensitive to weather conditions and a permanent roof (similar to those we have outside the kitchen of the church) will provide protection from the sun and the rain. The estimated cost of this structure is $12,000. I have already received 3 pledges from BPCC members totalling $1,800.00. We are hoping to gather another $10,200.00 to make up the required funds for this roof structure.

If you would like to be involved and support this project you can do so in the following ways:

Direct Transfer/Bank Deposit

EFTPOS

If you would like to make a donation, please do so by Sunday 11th November. The heat of summer is already looming and we would like to begin construction as soon as possible. If donations exceed our budgeted target the extra funds will be allocated to future improvements for The Park. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.

Yours faithfully,
