Releasing Children from Poverty
I recently read about a young man who once was a child living in desperate poverty but today is supplying vegetables to his local community through a hydroponic garden he himself created. This story is one of God working through others to release people from poverty in Jesus’ name! The name of this young man is Frizky. Frizky was eight-years-old when he entered the Compassion program. He had no idea that one day he would be supporting his community through a project he had created himself. Frizky and his team diligently worked together to build a greenhouse and care for 300 vegetable seedlings. The project has only gotten larger, and Frizky is now training two Compassion assisted young people to replace him in managing the garden when he graduates from the program.
It’s likely that you have heard about Compassion. As a Church we have partnered with Compassion for a many years. Many of you in fact sponsor a child and know first-hand the difference Compassion sponsorship makes.
Compassion’s programs have always and always will be carried out in partnership with the local church. Poverty looks different in every community and Compassion’s local church partners are best equipped to respond holistically. They build relationships with children and families, meet urgent nutrition and healthcare needs, and encourage and grow communities spiritually. Did you know that more than 8,500 local Churches are on the frontlines of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name?!
You and I have the opportunity to be a part of the incredible work God is doing through Compassion. We have the opportunity to release children from poverty, to know that there will be more miracle stories like Frizky’s. We have the opportunity to help more people find life in Jesus through this specific means.
If you are already a sponsor, can I ask you: when was the last time you wrote to them to encourage them? Please make the time to do that! Tell them you care about them, share Scripture with them, remind them that they are loved. If you aren’t sponsoring a child, then I encourage you to do so. Share what God has generously given you with those in need. We partner with Churches in both Thailand and Indonesia. This link (https://compassiononline.live/oasischurchqld) includes children in our partnered regions that are waiting for sponsorship.
Compassion have provided us with video updates from Thailand and Indonesia (the countries we partner with). I also encourage you to watch them and of course, continue to pray for Compassion and for those who support and engage in the Compassion programs.

‘In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ Acts 20:35
