Love in a Shoebox

This Sunday we will be celebrating and praying for the 233 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes our children at Oasis have packed. That’s 233 children living in poverty who will not only receive a gift, but will hear about the deep love God has for them. A big thank you to everyone who donated shoebox items or gave financially toward the items.
On Sunday we’ll also have an opportunity to give toward the postage of those shoeboxes, which cost $10 per box to get into the hands of a child living in poverty.

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Did you know that every child who receives a box also receives a picture book with Bible stories about Jesus? They’re also invited to come back to their local church and take part in ‘The Greatest Journey’, where they will hear the gospel message. At the end of the program, they receive a Bible in their own language and are given the opportunity to accept Christ.

Shoeboxes are distributed all over the world and all throughout the year. Every minute, on average, 21 children will hear the gospel, 7 will enroll in The Greatest Journey, and 4 children will accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. God is using this ministry in powerful ways!

If you have taken an empty shoebox, please return your filled box by 9th Oct. Don’t forget to mark on the box the gender and age of the child it’s for, and please pay for your postage online or pop $10 in the box. And pray for the child who will receive your box.

Thankyou for supporting this year’s Operation Christmas Child appeal!
