Exciting Plans for the Youth Shed
As the year draws to a close, it’s natural to reflect on the year that has been and to start looking ahead at what is to come. This year in our Youth and Children’s Ministries we have had the privilege of ministering to many families and young people; we hope and pray it’s been a blessing to those who have been involved. We know the year is not over yet, but the reality is 2020 is just around the corner, and we have some exciting things in store.
For families who are new to BPCC, Kidz Church or Youth is often the first exposure they have with our church community. And while we know that good relationships built between leaders and young people is essential to working with this age group, it’s also important that we provide a physical space that is practical, safe, and inviting.
As many of you know, our Youth and Children’s ministries use the Youth Shed regularly. You may even remember when it was built. It was a result of the collective vision and effort of many in our church family. It’s a great place to hold Kidz Church and Youth events and we are very grateful for it. It is, however, looking a little tired and worn and we’d love to give it a fresh look for 2020. We’d love to create a space that is user-friendly and appealing for all those involved in our Youth and Children’s ministries and especially for those coming to BPCC for the first time.
Across the upcoming holiday break, we’ll be replacing the carpet and window coverings, as well as putting some fresh paint on the walls. We’ll have a youth hangout corner complete with couches, TV’s and gaming equipment. We’ll also create an area for our younger children to enjoy with couches, bean bags, and the children’s library.
We’d like to invite you to be part of the upgrade. There are three ways you can be a part of this exciting project that we hope and pray will serve our church community for many years to come:
You can give your time. Across the holiday break, we will be cleaning and painting the walls. If you can spare some time, we would love some help. We also have a number of old couches that need to be taken away. If you have a trailer, perhaps this is something you can do. Please contact the church office (office@bpcc.com.au or 3882 1989) if you can donate your time.
You can give specific items. We are looking for the following items (good condition):
- Games consoles (XBox’s, PlayStation’s, controllers, etc.)
- Appropriately rated games (for all consoles)
- A large TV
- Neon lights
